This 700 acre garden opened in 1951,
although a part of it, the Coker Arboretum, dates to 1903.
The garden holds more than 2,000 species. Collection
highlights include carnivorous plants, an herb garden and a
horticultural therapy garden. It was one of the founding
institutions in the Center for Plant Conservation.
