The arboretum opened in 1958. It sits on
more than 1,000 acres and features natural areas and
developed gardens. Highlights include a bog, restored
native landscapes and home demonstration gardens.
Herbaceous plant collections include hostas, daylilies and
iris. There are numerous excellent woody plant collections,
including lilac, birch, crabapple and pine.
