Ganna Walska Lotusland
Santa Barbara,
California
This
37-acre site became a public garden in 1984. The earliest
plantings date from the late 1800’s when a prominent
nurseryman owned the property. Ganna Walska acquired the
property in 1941 and spent the rest of her life designing
and developing the grounds into a series of distinct
gardens. These include a Butterfly Garden, a Japanese
Garden, an Australian Garden and more. Major plant
collections include cycads, ferns, and cacti and
succulents.
