The 385-acre garden opened in 1972. The
garden features a huge plant collection with more than 2
million plants representing more than 6,000 taxa. The
garden’s Geranium, Spiraea and Quercus (Oak) collections
are recognized by the North American Plant Collections
consortium (NAPCC).
