The 55-acre estate at
Cheekwood opened to the public in 1960. The house and
gardens were designed by noted landscape architect Bryant
Fleming. Highlights include the Cloud Forest Greenhouse, a
Japanese Tea Garden and collections of boxwood and
trillium. Bryant Fleming also designed the Paine Estate in
Oshkosh, Wisconsin and the landscapes at Letchworth and
Watkins Glen State Parks in upstate New York and the
William E. Scripps Estate in Lake Orion, Michigan.
